Do both players need the mod?
Yes, and on the exact same build. Players on different versions can't connect, which keeps matches in sync. Spectators need the same build too.
How do I update?
Life Fiber checks this site for a new version when the game starts. The title screen and the panel say when there is one: Update and restart downloads it, checks it and restarts the game with it. You can also download the zip above and replace dinput8.dll by hand.
Who will I meet in Quick Match?
Everyone on the same Life Fiber version and the same game content (original or the same content mod). Find more players and organise sessions on the KILL la KILL -IF Community Discord.
Does it change my game files?
No. The mod is a single dinput8.dll in the game folder. Content mods load from the Mods folder, and the game's own files stay untouched.
Can I still use the game's own online modes?
Yes, with the original content. While a content mod is loaded, the game's Player Match and Ranked Match are locked, because they would put you against players on different content. Use the Life Fiber panel instead.
Can we play with a content mod like Restitched?
Yes, if both players load the same mod. The lobby checks the gameplay files. If they differ, it shows what's different and the match won't start. Cosmetic differences (models, textures, menus, music) are fine.
I hit a desync or a crash. What should I send?
Zip the lifefiber-logs folder in the game folder. For a desync, send it from both players. Include the match code and roughly when it happened, and post it on the Discord or email it to lifefiberproject [at] protonmail [dot] com.
